Receiving the Anointing!

This month our theme focuses on “Receiving the Anointing.” Acts 10:38 tells us that God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power. To anoint in this instance is God placing Divine capability into a person’s life for His service. The anointing originates from God. It is His intention when He anoints us, that our commitment will be to Him and to the work that He has chosen us to do. God’s way of anointing us is with the Holy Ghost (Spirit) and with Power (Authority). 1 John 2:27 declares, “As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit - just as it has taught you, remain in him.” Where does the anointing reside? It resides in us.

When God anointed Jesus of Nazareth, he went about doing the work of God. The anointing enabled him to do good and to heal all that were oppressed of the devil. The anointing brings a sense of purpose in our lives causing us to do the right things wherever we go. It enables us to heal those that are weighed down and burdened by evil in their lives. To be anointed is to have the Holy Ghost operating through us. This same anointing will instruct (teach) us in all things, it will inform (tell) us of what is true, and it will indwell (abide in) us.
